Japan, Tokyo and Kyoto
Winning a game on facebook led us to a couple of free return tickets to a destination of choice by Qatar Airways. Joyce and I choose Tokyo for our destination. At first we wanted to go by the end of March so that we could enjoy the Sakura (cherryblossoms), but unfortunately all flights were fully booked. So we went a month later and will go April 28 - May 12 2017. Our visit willl be to Tokyo only with a small trip by bullit train to Kyoto for 1 day only, hoping to see some geisha's. My DH wanted to come as well, but he had to pay full price for his ticket. Well, Tokyo is a very busy and large city, at the airport we took a train to our hotel, went to the Zoo to see the panda's (on a day that the entry was free of charge and so the Zoo was very busy), and visited all touristic sightseeings that Tokyo is famous for, like the Shibuya crossing, Tokyo's TV tower (like the eiffeltower) and even went to Tokyo's Walt Disney World. Riding the bullit train (Shinkansen) from Tokyo to Kyoto is a nice adventure, with booked seats. During the trip you pass Mount Fuiji. Naturally we ate a lot of sushi, which is fun to do and so much tastier than in the Netherlands. Funny thing is ordering some sushi, because it is high-tech: you place your order by tablet and a little "toy"-train comes to serve the dishes you ordered. The city of Tokyo has 2 faces, one is very traditional with lots of temples, the other is very modern and sophisticated with high tech innovation, (pre-heated toilet seats for example) neonlights and music. I think I like the tradional one the most.
