Peru

What a beautiful country and so versatile is Peru. DD Joyce and I went there November 4-25, 2016 and experienced a lot, while being there, We suffered from altitude sickness, experienced a minor earth quake and had to deal with the strike of the rail road company that should have taken us to the Macchu Picchu, We sailed on Lake Titicaca  and walked on the floating islands in the lake, we even saw the roasted guinee pigs on a stick (did not eat them). And yes, we also saw the Nasca lines (not all of them though) and climbed Macchu Picchu! We completed this wonderful vacations with a 3-day stay at the Amazone, hoping to see some wildlife of Peru!

Finnish Lapland

We went  to Finnish Lapland with high hopes to see the Northern Lights January 31 - February 6, 2016. There was a  lot of snow, although it wasn't too cold (minus 18 degrees at the lowest), but we did not see the Northern Lights (just maybe a glimpse of it). There were a lot of excursions planned (reindeer sleigh ride, snow mobile tours, snow shoe walk, Northern Light tour, huskey sleigh tour).
Unfortunately on the 3rd day I mis stepped in the snow and my knee got twisted, so for the rest of the vacation I couldn't move at all. DH Rob and DD Joyce had to go by themselves to do all the tours, while I could only sit and rest in our appartment. How unfortunate can a person be? Back home it turned out that my meniscus raptured on 2 places, it has been operated upon, but still hurts every now and then.
